This is Chloé, a 7-year old girl that needs a cryonic treatment. We all know that Infinitum is well known because of our cryonic treatments. With these treatments we want to give people a second chance at life. The person who takes a cryonic treatment will be freezed for 5 or more years, depending on what the doctors think is the best. A lot of our citizens have already gone through cryonic treatments, but they were all above 18, which makes Chloé the youngest.

Chloé is 7 years old, she lives with her parents in Aeterna and she suffers from acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). Leukemia is cancer of the body’s blood-forming tissues and usually involves the white blood cells. Since there is still no cure for leukemia, Chloé and her parents asked around if she could get a cryonic treatment. Because of her young age there are some risks: her growth could stop, her brain may not evolve how it should, … But Chloé doesn’t want to suffer anymore and wants to take the risk. We had the chance to ask her and her parents a few questions.

“Are you aware that there might be consequences when you wake up from the cryonic treatment, such as growth problems or mental problems?”

Chloé: Yes, I’m aware that I might not live a normal life and that there is a chance of me staying this small or my brain not working well. But since there is no cure for my disease I will probably die from leukemia and I don’t want that without trying other options. So, I want to take the chance even though it has consequences.

“How long are you going to take the cryonic treatment?”

Parents: We talked about it with Chloe’s doctor and since she is still so young, she recommended us to not let her stay in for more than 5 years. If she stays longer than 5 years, there might be a chance of her not waking up at all. We hope that in 5 years our daughter will wake up in good health or that there will be a cure for leukemia.

“If you wake up in 5 years and you are healthy again, what’s the first thing that you would want to do?”

Chloé: First of all, I want to spend some time with my parents and family. But I also want to do things with all my friends, such as going to the zoo or a theme park.

On the 1st of December, Chloé will be put to a deep sleep for 5 years. We wish her and her parents the best of luck and we hope she wakes up in good health and most of all happily.

You can always support Chloé and her parents on this long and difficult journey by writing a letter to chloésjourney@infinitum.ubn or by donating money to the research of a cure for leukemia to https://www.childrensleukemia.org/donate .
